Phuket Night Life

Human being have been gathering around at night for ages. Doing activities at night with groups has been part of human experience and it’s different for each one of us. Nightlife activities at Phuket are so different and vast, from quiet cafes to loud discos, Phuket has it all. Patong is the main place where nightlife exists in Phuket. There are girly bars and go-go bars that are part of Phuket nightlife, but due to its adult nature we decided to just include the nightlife activities you can go to with family or your significant other.

When to Go for Phuket Night Life

The discos open around at 5:00 to 6:00 and the bars are open way earlier. It used to be that they would be open until the morning. But gone are the days that you could stay all night at a disco in Thailand. The new laws dictate that bars should close by 1:00 and discos by 2:00 am. But still that leaves you with plenty of time to get out at night and go explore the vibrant city. In Patong the laws are enforced by many establishments so plan accordingly.

Patong Beach Road Phuket Night Life

There are many bars and restaurants along the beach road. The bars are more laid back and play soft music, or have bands playing in them. The prices are a little higher because you are closer to the beach.

The Banana Disco is one of the more famous discos in this area, they have both a disco and a lounge bar. The Lime Club plays some more EDM music and the kind of Electronic music that the hip kids listen to. You can go down this beach road until you get the Bangla Road, which is where most of the action is at.

Bangla Road

It’s the famous part of Patong for nightlife. Actually it’s the hub for nightlife in Phuket. There are insane amounts of bars, restaurants, clubs and discos. This is also where you find more of the bars with adult themes. When you first walk down this part of town, you can see lots of people walking around even late at night. There are many open faced bars stationed at the side of the road. There is so much going on here that we can’t name all the establishments. Just ask the locals to point you out where to go so you won’t end up somewhere you didn’t intent to go to.

Beach Clubs

If you’ve visited the popular beaches of Europe or America, you know that they have a lot of beach clubs. This trend has spread to Phuket recently and it has attracted a lot of people to invest in making beach clubs. There are several beach clubs in Karon, Kamala and Kata. Sometimes they throw big parties involving international Djs from all around the world. The most famous clubs are Catch at Surin Beach, Bliss at Bang Tao, Xana and Re Ka Ta clubs. There are many to choose from except the ones we named so be sure to go wherever you feel most comfortable at.

Phuket Town

There are no single road hubs involved here, but there are many bars and Clubs across the town.  The best spots are easy to find through a search on your phone. But to name a few there is the Timber Hut, which has a live band; The Thavorn Hotel, with a nice bar and live Thai music; And the O’Malley Irish Pub which has a snooker table also, for those who like to pool. There are also many karaoke bars if you are into that kind of activity too. But if the windows are tinted you better stay away because they might involve adult themes.

Phuket Night Life in Slip-Fly

It’s a good place to go to if you want to relax and go for a swim. It also has a very nice restaurant that you can eat food. There are many events with famous Djs hold here. Be sure to check out the website to see if they have any events up, because most of them are too fun to miss. Although it’s not open until late at night, but it’s a good place to get a few beers and chill out in the swim bar if you are a fan of water activities.

Elephant Day

Thailand’s Elephants and The Elephant Day

Thailand’s Elephants and The Elephant Day

Thailand’s Elephants and The Elephant Day

Gigantic beasts helping mankind build structures, move to battle and transport materials across distances, might remind you of a sci-fi movie. But in Thailand that is closer to reality than you might think. Elephants are the biggest mammals living on the surface of the earth, and have been the subject of art, stories and religions for as long as written history suggests. Thailand has a very dear relationship with these animals and they even have an official Elephant Day on March 13th. Today we are going through the significance of this species in Thai culture and also suggest activities to do for Elephant Day.

Elephant Day

Elephants in Buddhist Culture

The elephant has a prominent stature in Buddhist culture. Many Thai temples have statutes of elephants. In Buddhist legend it is believed that the mother of the Buddha was only able to conceive after having a dream featuring a white elephant. And that is why the white elephant has royal status in Thailand. Buddhism in Thailand also incorporates elements of Hindu beliefs and it is common to see shrines to Hindu gods and deities. Erawan (the elephant mount of Indra another prominent god) and Ganesh (the Hindu god with an elephant’s head) are often seen as statutes in temples of Thailand.

The White Elephants

There are some elephants which have a lighter skin tone, from light grey and some even are albino. These are the White elephants. They have a very special place in Thailand due to the myth of Buddha’s Birth. There are regular white elephants who by law belong to the king by birth, and there are royal white elephants that undergo a number of tests before the Bureau of the Royal Household appoints them as such. You might have heard of the elephant as a gift. The kings of old would give someone an Elephant as a gift in addition to some land so they could take care of it. But if the king wanted to pull a modern day equivalent of a prank on them or teach them a lesson, a white elephant would be given to the person with no land. So the person with the gift would have to care for the elephant for the rest of their life because a gift of a king couldn’t be used to work or sold.

What to do for Elephant Day

There are a number of elephant sanctuaries throughout Thailand, We encourage you to visit them during the elephant day. There are some that hold some kind of parade with the elephant. Other ones feature feeding sessions that you can go out to the elephants and feed them if you dare. And some of the venues let you wash and care for the elephants yourself. The Happy Elephant Home in Chiang Mai is a good choice to go to although Chiang Mai has many options for other ethical elephant sanctuaries, The Phang Nga Elephant Park would be a better choice if you want to support a small family business. And Finally if you are in Phuket , you can visit the Elephant Jungle Sanctuary which is a forest like park with many elephants that you can go ahead and hug.

Final Word

Elephant day is at March 13th and you can get a lot to see then for sure, but if you still have some time before that we encourage you to visit the Kathu Connection Slip-Fly while you are in Phuket. It has many awesome rides and attractions that you and your family can enjoy.

What to Take into Consideration When Travelling to Thailand

What to Take into Consideration When Travelling to Thailand

Travelling to Thailand

Traveling to other parts of the world is easy nowadays. But you must first get acquainted with the culture and norms of the place you are about to visit. Thailand is no exception. There are a number of things you have to beware of when traveling to Thailand and we have gathered a list for new arriving tourists to make their life easier.

The Cultural Norms for Travelling to Thailand

There are a number of things that is unique to every culture and might make no sense to foreigners. Knowing these things before going to a new country gives you an upper hand. So you won’t make a mistake when interacting with locals and do something that might embarrass you. Here is a list of cultural things you must beware of when going to Thailand:

  • Don’t eat off your fork, it is considered rude to Thai people, instead use your fork to move the food to a spoon and eat off your spoon.
  • People don’t like to stand in lines. So be prepared to stand your ground when buying stuff from shops or going to amusement in parks.
  • Don’t talk about the king. Although I don’t know what the political or any other reason for this but it’s better to keep your opinions of the king to yourself.
  • Wear something not revealing when visiting temples. It’s a good idea to wear pants and keep a jacket or coat handy when you want to enter the temples. Best outfits are the ones that cover your elbows and knees.
  • There are many transvestites in Thailand, if you see a woman with too much make up or a pretty nice dress, she probably is a lady boy. Make sure to be mentally prepared for that.
  • Some temples require you to take off your shoes. Keep an eye out to see if other people have taken off their shoes, if so you should do it too.
  • Don’t touch people on the head. The head is considered sacred in Thai culture and should not be touched. Also try not to point your feet in the direction of people you are talking to.
  • Haggling is okay everywhere, even when you want to pay for your taxi ride. So don’t be afraid to negotiate a better price with your cab driver.
  • Gambling is permitted on certain days of the week per order of the king. So ask around to see if it’s a day that gambling is permitted before you hit up the horse tracks.

General Advice for Travelling to Thailand

There are lots of other tips and tricks to keep in mind when visiting Thailand. From what to eat to what to do that you wouldn’t be able to do in other countries. And also some general advice for new comers. Again here is a list of a few things that come to mind:

  • People are nice so don’t get freaked out when they strike up conversations randomly or want to know if you enjoy Thailand. Be polite back and some might give you good advice. But beware of scammers, if they seem shady to you it’s a good idea to keep your distance.
  • Take tuk-tuks during the day and taxis during the night, the tuk-tuks are great to enjoy the outside weather while getting where you need to go. Also if some taxi driver tells you that somewhere is closed or out of service, ask someone else too because they might want to bring you somewhere, that they get paid to bring tourists to.
  • Use public transportation, The BTS and MRT are cheap and get you where you want to go fast.
  • The prices are very cheap so be sure to go to premium establishments like 5 star hotels and spas, you will not get the same prices back at home.
  • Always buy your own water, don’t drink tap water because it might not be safe everywhere. Also beware that they don’t confuse your water with beer because many of the brands that sell water also sell beer.
  • The toilets might be different and Thai people use water to wash themselves, if you are not comfortable doing that bring your own tissues or toilet paper with you.
  • Get massages, because they are inexpensive and make you feel refreshed, Thailand is famous for its massages but beware of parlors that say nice or happy girls on their signs. Because they might be a brothel.
  • Be wary of street food, most of the carts selling food are fine but some might not be up to standards of hygiene. A good rule is to eat where there are lots of people buying.
  • Visit waterparks, there are many waterparks in Thailand and it’s one of the most fun things you can do, the Kathu Connection Slip-Fly is our choice, it’s in Phuket and offers a premium service for a cheap price.

Birthday Party in Phuket

Birthday Party in Phuket

Birthday Party in Phuket

Whether you are a grown up and want to throw yourself or one of your friends a surprise birthday party or you want it to be your children’s birthday party that they’ll never forget, Phuket has many places that you can do it in. In this article we will tell you how you can throw a birthday party for the cheapest price but without cutting down the quality of the party.  There are two important factors when you are planning for that party and they are the preparations like the cake, invitations, the meals and the place you are throwing the party, most of the people have their birthday parties at home but stay with us until the end of the article where we tell you of a place that you can throw your birthday party for cheap.

Birthday Party in Phuket

Essentials

Birthday parties have a list of items that are essential and without them it just doesn’t feel like it’s a wholesome party, here is a list of those items and what you can do to cut down on the budget.

  • Birthday cakes

So the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a birthday party is the cake and cakes can be expensive if you want to buy them from bakeries most of the time. Our life hack here is pretty simple and that is to bake the cake yourself, you can get the materials from any mall near you for a much cheaper price and it isn’t that hard to bake it yourself with the help of the internet.

  • Decorations

The next thing is the decorations, just get some balloons and the other ornaments you can make yourself by getting some colored papers and some glue.

  • Music

You don’t have to have a DJ or band playing at the party, just download some great birthday songs and some relevant party songs to your audience on iTunes, or just search for a party playlist on Spotify and you have saved a lot of money.

  • Invitations

So most people want to send out postcards for their party invitations and that’s okay if you want to, just don’t buy them at the store. Again you can get some colored paper sheets and make some post cards or better use electronic invitations via a social media or other apps such as evite.

Birthday Party in Phuket

Where to Throw your party

As I said earlier you can save a lot of money when you throw the party at your own home, but it has a lot of downsides that might make this option just not worth it. You have to worry about the place being tidy enough first, then you have to worry about those crystal vases and other breakable object around your house especially if you are throwing a party for your children; and at the end of it all you have to stay up late to clean up the mess your dear guests leave behind after they leave. So all in all it might not be worth the trouble

Birthday Party in Phuket

Poolside Birthday Party and It’s Cheap?

Yes, you can throw your own or your children’s birthday in a place that is not only very cheap but also it has a giant water park, with slides, pools and all the other things you expect a great place establishment has to have.

Slip-Fly, it is the best place in the entirety of Phuket to throw your birthday party in, if you are and adult you and your guests can take turns to have fun in the giant poolside slides that throw you six meters in the air, after wards there is dancing, a restaurant with a great view and even a swim bar you can enjoy your drinks in. So if you want a memorable birthday party go there for sure.

Pool Club Slip-fly

Pool Club Slip-fly

There are thousands of beach resorts and waterparks throughout Thailand, because people travel to Thailand to experience the beach vacation that they dream of in a foreign country. On the other hand it is relatively cheaper than other countries like morocco, but what makes the Kathu Connection Slip-fly stand out? Here we have gathered some key factors that help you understand why we are so passionate about the slip n fly and why we recommend you to choose this water park between all of the many choices that you have when you are visiting Thailand.

Pool Club Slip-fly

It’s in Phuket

Phuket is the crown jewel of all of Thailand’s cities, it’s one of the top tourist destinations and it has a lot of places to see, so much that we recommend if you want to visit Thailand for a short period you have to go to Phuket. The Slip-Fly is easily accessible with a taxi and the taxi drivers will know it by name when you mention Kathu connection because it’s one of the most popular waterparks in Phuket

It’s Premium and Affordable

Although premium places that have that luxury vibe charge a lot of money for you to access them, the Slip-Fly doesn’t charge that much for entries. It has that premium and luxurious vibe when you enter it and unlike many of the other parks, you will see mostly tourists around instead of local residents.

Pool Club Slip-fly

Friendly Staff

The staff is one the most important factors when you enter an establishment in Phuket. We have trained our staff to be as hospitable and helpful as they can be, so don’t be shy to ask them for instructions, for something you want to know or any other things you need, to make your stay pleasant while you are visiting.

The Giant Slides

The Slip-Fly has a massive water slide beside it’s pool that is the best thing about the waterpark in our opinion. It really makes the Kathu Connection stand out against its many competitors because it can really make you fly hence the fly in the name. Just visit the gallery in our website so you can see for yourself what you can expect from it, you won’t be disappointed.

The Swim Bar and Jacuzzi

The slip-fly has a dedicated Jacuzzi beside the pool that you can relax in with all your friends and unlike other Jacuzzis that host a small amount of people, the Slip-Fly has a gigantic Jacuzzi that not only can fit you and your friends but also your whole tour. There is a swim bar right beside the Jacuzzi that you can get your drinks directly from, so you won’t have to get out of the water when you want to enjoy your drinks. Also the bartenders are experienced and can make you any drink you want from cocktails to your seven and seven cocktail, so don’t be shy to ask them for those martinis that are shaken and not stirred.

Pool Club Slip-fly

Your Kids Can Have Fun Too in Slip-Fly

The slip-fly has not only a dedicated pool and slides for your children to have fun in while you are enjoying the adult pool with your spouse, but also it has a kid’s club for those kids who are water shy and don’t want to hit the water right away, it has toys and other stuff for kids that they can pass the time with, so you won’t have to worry about them, it’s your vacation after all.

Sauna and VIP Area

We have a nice sauna that is really relaxing, going to a dry sauna has many health benefits and it will not only remove all the toxins in your blood stream via sweating but also relax your mind. There is also a dedicated VIP area beside the pool that you can relax in with your friends on the comfy sofas while being outdoors and enjoying the nice Phuket weather.

When it comes down to wedding parties, everyone wants the best things, and why not its only for a night! But not everyone can afford a luxurious wedding party in a million-dollar mansion in Beverly hills where Beyoncé and Jay-Z come to perform. What If I told you, you can have an experience similar to what I described but for much, much less. And that is where the Slip-fly comes in. Guest’s Entertainment

I would guess half the planning of a wedding goes to the Entertainment. You have to hire a band or DJ for you guest to dance, then you have to have some good bartenders that can mix the drinks that all your guests can enjoy, but a pool party is not something that comes to mind when throwing a wedding party and Why not? You don’t have to worry about any of that if you are throwing your wedding party in the Slip-fly, there are bilingual bartenders and DJs that you can employ courtesy of the establishment and after all the dancing maybe everyone can relax or even go for a swim.
